A la Mort Subite (Brussels)

A la Mort Subite – A Legendary Brussels Drinking Hole
A La Mort Subite is a Brussels institution that has serving up strong sweet Belgian beer in distinctive art nouveau surroundings since the 1920’s. It is a charming bar that has been attracting beer connoisseurs for generations and despite its popularity with visitors on Brussels short breaks, it still retains much of its historic laid back charm. Translated as ‘sudden death’, it has been run by four generations of the Vossel family and still exudes a fin de siècle quality with a high vaulted ceiling, ornate brass lamps and old posters and paintings adorning its mirrored walls.

A la Mort Subite – Great Belgian Beer and Good Times on Tap
The distinctive lay out is spread over two floors with long wooden tables ensuring a convivial and social atmosphere in typical Belgian drinking tradition. The tipple at A La Mort Subite is just as distinctive. It serves up its own lambic beer which is a dark sweet brew in varieties of peach and cherry. There are crisp lagers such as Chimay Blonde and a raft of strong trappist beers. You can enjoy it with simple Belgian pub fare such as filling open sandwiches, plates of cheese and pate and waffles. A weekend break in Brussels will see a lively mixed crowd of local beer lovers and curious visitors all mingling and having fun.
