Cork Weather - A mild and temperate climate
As with the Republic of Ireland as a whole, Cork weathe shares many climatic characteristics with all the British Isles. Mild, temperate and unpredictable best describes weather in Cork and has conditions that are rarely extreme in heat or cold. Rain is possible at any time of year and visitors should plan for some wet weather when planning a city break in Cork. Although cold during winter, Atlantic influences ensure temperatures rarely drop below freezing and summer days can be very pleasant indeed with bright sunshine and uninterrupted clear skies.
Cork Weather - Generally fine and bright summers
County Cork is one of the driest areas in Ireland and summers will likely see an average of 6 hours of sunshine each day with temperatures up to 20c. Isolated hot spells are possible in July and August and afternoons can reach up to 26-28c on occasion and evenings are delightful staying light until 10pm or later. With such a changeable climate, a Cork city break has no guarantee of settled sunny weather even in summer but when rain does occur it is thankfully light and often drizzly. Cork weather during summertime should rarely seriously threaten the enjoyment of sightseeing or outdoor activities.
Cork Weather - Ample rainfall ensures a lush and green environment
With such a beautifully green and lush countryside it should not come as a surprise to learn that Cork weather sees its fair share of winter rainfall. Some days can consist of constant light rain and cloud during these short days although temperatures are surprisingly mild and snowfall is rare. Cork weather in December is likely to see temperatures of 7c with the possibility of 2 hours a sunshine each day. Contrary to popular belief, the sun does make an appearance during winter and some days will enjoy bright conditions with mild sunshine producing clear skies for several hours.
