Paris At Easter - A myriad of special events and activities
Spring is always a special time to be in Paris and spending an Easter weekend is particularly rewarding with plenty of events celebrating the holiday weekend that highlight the rich religious traditions of France's capital along with numerous arts and leisure activities. Most monuments and sights of interest continue to welcome visitors through Easter in Paris, with many hosting special art exhibitions and entertainment such as the always popular Pompidou Centre. A great spectacle is the Paris-Roubaix cycling race which traditionally takes place at Easter, offering a true carnival atmosphere and is in fact longer established than the Tour de France.
Easter In Paris - Rich religious traditions on a grand scale
Easter services at Notre Dame Cathedral offer a suitably grand and inspiring way to celebrate the holy week for Catholics and a whole series of events and celebrations take place providing rich pageantry and ceremony on a grand scale. The Procession of the Cross starts the proceedings on Good Friday with the most popular being Easter Sunday Mass. The St. Denis Basilica and Sacre Couer are two of the most enigmatic churches in Paris to host Easter services and all across the city religious sites are a buzz of activity with many community events taking place.
Paris At Easter - A magical time for kids
Easter city breaks in Paris are about the enjoyment of children too and the city offers a wealth of excitement and magical entertainment. A short stroll will encounter the wondrous window displays of confectioners and chocolatiers with delectable Easter eggs and cakes more like works of art than comfort food. Small Easter fun fairs and amusements are a feature at this time of year at Les Halles and Place de la Bastille or really give your kids a treat with a day at Disneyland Paris. Its traditional Easter parade is awash with colour, noise and fantasy and the perfect escape from the city.
