Eurostar New Stations
Eurostar New StationsAll trains to and from the continent now depart from St Pancras International, the main London terminal for Eurostar services, with additional stations along the route including Ebbsfleet International and Ashford International, both in Kent. All trains depart from this Central London hub, with calling patterns at the regional stations, and non-stop services to Paris taking 2 hours 15 minutes, Brussels 1 hour 55 minutes, and Lille 1 hour and 10 minutes. London St Pancras International, recently restored and renovatedSt Pancras is well-known for its stunning Victorian Gothic architecture, and extensive renovation, restoration and expansion during the early 2000’s has made it one of the world’s finest stations. With 15 platforms, a huge shopping centre and a bus station, St Pancras is one of the most accessible railway stations in Central London, with direct links to six underground lines and well-served by bus routes, and has 315 convenient car parking spaces, which can be pre-booked. As well as Eurostar, there are four main services from St Pancras – Southeast, First Capital Connect and East Midlands trains. The renovation project created the most important Eurostar and hub station in London, with an extension to the train shed having been constructed to hold extra platforms and extend the existing platforms to the required length for Eurostar trains. Alternatives to Central LondonThe two stations in Kent are convenient for regional Eurostar departures in the South East. Ebbsfleet International is located off Junction 2 of the M25 in Kent, which sees 4 trains per hour in peak time, and boasts a 15 minute journey time to St Pancras. The station offers regular departures to Paris throughout the week, running six times a day from Monday to Friday, four times on Saturday and three times on Sunday, as well as trains to Lille four times a day during the week, three times on Saturday and twice on Sunday, and departures to Brussels at the weekend. There are 9,000 car park spaces here across six car parks with 3,000 spaces available for domestic passengers. Ashford International lies at Junction 9 of the M20 in Kent, and has 3 car parks, one multi-storey and two overground, with capacity for 1,500 cars. Services run Paris to Paris four times a day from Monday to Friday, three times on Saturday and twice on Sunday, and there is a daily service to Lille, and weekly service to Brussels. Although Eurostar services do not call at Stratford International, you can connect from the station to St Pancras International using Southeastern’s high-speed trains, and tickets must be purchased from Southeastern to cover journeys to and from the station. |
