Granada Weather - Exceptionally sunny climate
The weather in Granada is one of the city’s attractions: manageably hot summers and plenty of beautiful crisp sunshine throughout the rest of the year. Granada summer weather is hot and sunny but far more comfortable and notably less humid than Seville. Like the Andalusian cities of Malaga and Almeria, the summers are virtually rainless. Average sunshine hours in Granada are exceptionally high. Sunshine is virtually guaranteed between June to September. Take care to protect yourself against the strong sunshine even in winter. The city’s altitude means temperatures fall sharply at night throughout the year. Take a light jacket in summer, a sweater and jacket for spring and autumn nights, and wrap up warm in winter.

Granada Weather – Idyllic spring colours
The best time for a Granada city break is spring and autumn. Spring and autumn weather in Granada can be idyllic. Beautifully warm sparkling sunshine means you can still sit out in the city’s beautiful squares and pavement cafes. Southern Spain is one of the sunniest parts of Europe. Even the mid winter months of December and January see at least 10 completely cloudless days. Granada rainfall is low. Spring tends to be drier than autumn. You will be very unlucky to experience rainy days in Granada.

Granada Winter Weather – Crisp sunshine
Even the winter sees plenty of mountain sunshine reminiscent of Madrid. Granada is a better bet for winter sunshine than the coastal cities of Almeria, Murcia and Malaga. Although the best winter days can be deliciously warm in the sun, Granada temperatures can fall to freezing at night. Granada is delightfully picturesque in the winter, with the snowy Sierra Nevada mountains an unforgettable backdrop to the Alhambra. Winter weather in Granada is perfect for skiing, with long periods of uninterrupted sunshine between snowfalls.
