Ha penny Bridge (Dublin)

The Ha'penny Bridge is one Dublin's most endearing images, connecting the north and south banks of the River Liffey and conveniently close to the Temple Bar district. Officially known as the Liffey Bridge, its more popular moniker comes from the halfpenny toll which was extracted from users for over 100 years. Constructed in England in 1816, it is a simple, single span cast iron structure that perfectly blends in with the classical Georgian architecture that overlooks the river. Ha'penny Bridge has a romantic timeless appeal that has been immortalised on postcards, film and in music, and is widely accepted as the symbol of Dublin.
