Lisbon Weather

Lisbon weather – Ideal for short break, all year round
One of the mildest European capitals, Lisbon enjoys a mild and temperate climate. Irrespective of the season, sunshine is almost constant in this part of Portugal. On average, there are 3,300 sunny hours per year compared to 100 days with rain. The city’ weather is strongly influenced by the Gulf Stream. The predictable weather enhances Lisbon’s reputation as a prime city break destination.

Weather in Lisbon – Sizzling summer
Spring is cool to warm (between 10C and 27C) with plenty of sunshine and occasional showers while the summer months are almost exclusively sunny, dry and hot with temperatures ranging between 16°C to 36°C. The warm afternoons were made for riverside walks and sipping coffee at one of the many street cafés dotted across the city.

Lisbon winter weather – The sun still shines!
Autumn is mild with temperatures between 8°C and 23°C and the short winters are typically rainy, windy and cool with some sunny days (temperatures between 2°C and 18°C), usually staying at an average of 10°C. Although temperatures drop, sunshine is almost always overhead and temperatures rarely fall to freezing, even during the coldest months. Snowfall is a rare occurrence. The city has witnessed snow twice in recent years thanks to cold waves from the Arctic. Before 2006, no snowfall had been registered for over forty years. Due to its proximity to the sea, mist and drizzly rain can sometimes make Lisbon feel cooler than inland Portugal.
