Los Angeles Weather - Perfect for year round beach breaks
Sun drenched Los Angeles enjoys a hot and sultry Mediterranean style climate that attracts visitors all year round. Nestling by the Pacific Ocean it enjoys some respite from the sometimes intense heat of inland Southern California with surprisingly comfortable coastal temperatures tempered by sea breezes. Throughout the year Los Angeles weather is very settled with low rainfall, clear skies and warm to hot sunshine. It is precisely this climatic combination which provides a healthy lifestyle for residents where golf, water sports and outdoor pursuits are popular year round activities. Sunbathing and swimming can be practised all year and sea temperatures are generally constantly warm although high humidity can be experienced in urban areas for much of the year.

Los Angeles weather sees very little summer rainfall with June to September virtually free of any rain. Up to 11 hours a day of sunshine and temperatures of 26c are normal, although prolonged summer heat waves can produce temperatures over 40c. The city is often blighted by urban smog which produces a hazy blanket of mist over the city skyline. Inland the countryside can become very dry which can result in localised forest fires which only add further to the deterioration of air quality. On the few occasions of summer rain, it tends to be heavy and brief followed by overcast conditions. In general Los Angeles summers are near perfect for short break stays with long periods of bright sunshine and clear skies.

Fine weather continues during winter months with milder temperatures and a slightly greater likelihood of rain. January and February are the wettest months but even at this time no more than around 5 days of wet weather should be expected each month. Sightseeing and strolling in the city is more comfortable although sun protection is still very important. Pacific Ocean breezes can become strong during autumn when at certain beaches, water sports and swimming is a little hazardous. Winter weather in Los Angeles should still enjoy at least 7 hours of sunshine and temperatures reaching 20c. North of the city may see instances of coastal fog during October and November.
