Lyon Weather - A fine continental climate
Lyon weather has a temperate continental style climate that can expect some changeable conditions. The weather pattern is influenced by the Mediterranean and nearby mountain ranges which bring contrasting conditions producing hot and dry summers with little rainfall and cold winters which bring a fair amount of snow. Lyon weather is reasonably settled with low rainfall; however on the occasions of wet weather it can become heavy with thunderstorms. Mid summer should bring 9 hours of daily sunshine, light breezes and perfect conditions for exploring the lovely surrounding countryside. Long spells of hotter weather are common between July and September with temperatures remaining above 30c for several days and evenings in Lyon will be warm and sultry.

Winter city breaks in Lyon can feel very cold due to blustery winds bringing a real chill factor, although rainfall is exceedingly low during this time. In general temperatures stay above freezing although snow is frequent from December to March and the city is ideally placed for a short break on the pistes of several nearby alpine resorts. Daily sunshine is restricted to around 2 hours and temperatures are likely to reach no more that 4c in mid winter. Early spring weather in Lyon sees the heaviest rainfall, but is compensated by gradual rising of temperatures and a countryside full of colour and freshness.
