Malta Weather - Basking in sunshine all year round
Famed for its enviable sunshine record and exceedingly low rainfall, weather in Malta is as good as anywhere in Europe and remains popular all year round with short break and beach holiday visitors. A small island, it has a warm maritime Mediterranean climate that can produce very hot temperatures in late summer and a mild winter climate that allows comfortable sunbathing and water sports on all but the coldest days. Humidity is low and constant breezes temper the sometimes debilitating heat in summer.

The peak months of July until September see masses of visitor arrivals attracted by its intriguing history, beaches and of course unbeatable climate. Malta weather during these months may sometimes produce uncomfortable temperatures for some reaching 40c and young children should be well protected. Expect to see 32c as a seasonal norm during July and August enjoying up to 12 hours of sunshine. On the few occasions of summer rainfall, heavy showers may occur along with thunderstorms that may persist for a few hours although it is usually localised and seldom affects the whole island simultaneously.

This fine climate continues into winter months with a welcome reduction in temperatures while retaining a largely settled pattern of clear and sunny skies. Weather in Malta sees temperatures of 17 - 22c in winter and up to 6 hours of daily sun. Winter rainfall can be sporadic giving Malta the appearance of a changeable climate in winter although showers are not normally too heavy. Malta never experiences the kind of cold daytime weather associated with Northern Europe and as a relatively low lying nation, snow and mist are virtually unheard of.
