Miami Weather - A tropical sunny climate whatever the season
Miami is situated in the Southern portion of the sunshine state of Florida and enjoys an almost perfect year round climate of warm sunshine. It doesn't suffer any major fluctuations in seasonal temperature or the intense heat that some of the landlocked Gulf States experience. The weather in Miami is considered to be an Oceanic climate that is almost tropical which although is consistently fine for most of the year, can experience heavy rain and tropical storms during summer months. Sea temperatures remain warm enough throughout the year for bathing or water sports and Atlantic Ocean sea breezes keep humidity and high temperatures bearable.

Miami summers see the highest temperatures and the longest hours of sunshine, yet with adequate protection should not cause discomfort for sunbathers. An average of 30c can be expected in July with around 10 hours of daily sunshine. However humidity is also at its highest at this time and late summer can experience the occasional tropical storm. Summer weather in Miami will see some heavy downpours in July and August and the city has more thunderstorms than anywhere else in the United States. Afternoons will see a regular build up of cloud which can increase the feeling of high humidity. Between June and September however most days will enjoy warm to hot temperatures, tempered by sea breezes and clear, cloudless skies.

Miami has an extremely busy winter season where thousands of visitors arrive to escape from the harsh winters of the Northern states and enjoy mild sunshine and very little rainfall. Winter weather in Miami is generally drier with temperatures of around 20c in January and up to 8 hours of sunshine each day. Cold spells of frost or snow are extremely rare and sea temperatures remain consistently warm. Evenings in Miami during winter months are balmy and comfortable and humidity is moderate at this time. Sun block and common sense should still be taken during winter days at the beach as temperatures can get surprisingly hot during autumn and cool offshore breezes often give a false sense of security.
