Old Timer Motorcycle Museum (Bruges)

Situated in the sleepy village of Oudenburg and easily reached from central Bruges is the unique Old Timer Motorcycle Museum. This is sure to be a trip down memory lane for any motorcycle enthusiasts, and promises a fun and nostalgic day out for bikers of all ages. It has a collection of almost 100 motorcycles from the past to the present day, including several iconic vintage bikes rarely seen nowadays. On short breaks in Bruges, you can relive the history and glamour of motorcycle racing, admiring lovingly preserved bikes from the 1920s through the halcyon days of the 1950s and the powerful superbikes of today.

 

Exhibits include 80 year old Alcyon and Cyclo-Tracteur bikes, iconic 1950s Lambretta and Vespa scooters and even a Triumph 500cc from 1914. The collection is primarily German, French, Italian and a few English models comprising off road bikes, racing bikes and even speedway motorcycles. On cheap city breaks in Bruges, you can enjoy a guided tour with commentary which is full of sharp wit and enthusiasm for the history of motorcycling. It makes for a fun and relaxed day of nostalgia and a fascinating insight into the world of bikers and motorcycle racing.

 

The Old Timer Motorcycle Museum is located a short drive out of Bruges, in the grounds of the famous Biker’s Loft Motel. For biking obsessives this makes for the perfect stop over and offers a fun atmosphere with a busy biker-friendly bar, nightly entertainment and barbecues. It is an informal and friendly place that welcomes families and certainly guarantees a pretty unique hotel experience during Bruges weekend breaks. The museum and motel closes down for an annual winter break between December and February.
