The weather in Rome is very unlikely to spoil your trip at any time of year. However, with so much of Rome deserving exploration on foot you might consider avoiding the height of the summer if you are not comfortable with the heat. The best time to visit Rome is probably spring and early autumn when Rome is warm without being hot and there is plenty of sunshine.
