The Acropolis is certainly one of the most iconic historic sites on earth, and truly one of the wonders of the ancient world. Dating back to the 6th century BC, it is the most emblematic landmark in Greece and is a time honoured essential part of cheap city breaks in Athens. The Acropolis itself is the towering craggy rock which overlooks the teeming city of Athens on which the ancient marvel that is the Parthenon sits majestically.
