Turin Weather
Turin weather - Continental climate
Due to its geographical position, Turin is characterised by cold, but not harsh winters, and hot but not sweltering summers. Surrounded on the western and northern front by the Alps and by the hills of Monferrato to the south, Turin is located in north-west Italy. Four major rivers pass through the city: the Po and two of its tributaries, the Dora Riparia, Stura di Lanzo, and the Sangone. The city has a truly continental climate: winters are cold and dry and summers are cool in the hills and quite hot in the plains. Rainfall can be heavy at times, but is fairly predictable with consistent periods of precipitation which are largely restricted to the months of June, October and November. Spring is accompanied by a mild climate while the more humid autumn weather favours the formation of banks of fog.
Weather in Turin - Comfortable summers
Summer is certainly the best time for a Turin city break, although any time between May and October is good in terms of temperature. The main summer months – July to September – sees average daily highs of anywhere between 24C and 29C, not too hot for visitors wanting to spend time visiting the sights and attractions.
Turin winter weather - Bearable
During the winter and autumn months, fog – which is sometimes very thick – forms in the plains. Winters can be cool, but they rarely see temperatures below freezing. Average daily highs are between 5C and 10C from December to February and the rainfall is relatively low.
