City Breaks in October - An Autumnal adventure
If you haven't yet travelled in October, now is the time. October city breaks are a spectacular time of year to travel. The autumn leaves on the trees in many cities around the world are spectacular and add a real warmth to any destination. Add to that some good sunshine in places and excellent bargains on accommodation and flights, and you have the perfect recipe for a relaxing break. You'll be able to find your way to a top destination without breaking the bank. Here are a few top October city break destinations.

October City Breaks - Oh Canada
Montreal is on the map this year and has been a top destination for a city break for a number of years. An unconventional mix of old French architecture and a modern city, you'll be able to enjoy this beautiful city with its real autumnal feel. Head to the Bonsecours Market for a glimpse of the trees with their red and yellow leaves, followed by a tour of the city on one of the many open top buses that frequently travel the streets. Take in the Notre-Dame Basilica in Old Montreal and then head to one of the modern bars located around the Rue Sainte-Catherine. Excellent public transport and frequent connections to many of the East Coast's major cities makes Montreal a thoroughly enjoyable and eclectic destination for a city break.

City Breaks in October - To Germany
There can be few more spectacular sights than the Cologne Cathedral lit up at night on an autumnal evening. You'll catch a glimpse of its Gothic spires as you enter the city from the airport and, if you wait until the evening, you'll marvel at its splendour and the sheer scale of it. Cologne is just one of those cities you have to walk around to see the changes that occur on every street, new buildings mingling with the old, European travellers mixing with the locals - Cologne is a truly European city and has a spectacular sense of history. Autumn is a great time to visit with mild temperatures and spectacular sunsets over the city. German's love their pubs and you'll find Cologne no different.

October City Breaks - Try something different
Sometimes referred to by the locals as the real capital of Ireland, you'll find something of the literary and the romantic lines the streets of Cork. Home to many of Ireland's important literary and political figures over the years the City is now home to one of Ireland's top universities. The great thing about a cheap city break to Cork is that you can enjoy the city in the relatively mild temperatures and if the rain does set in you can duck into one of the famous pubs that give the city its heartbeat. Trips to St. Finbarre's cathedral and the Cork City Hall give a glimpse of the significance of the city in Irish Catholic culture but it is in the pubs and bars that you'll get a real sense of what makes Cork so special: the people.
