Cork Tourist Attractions
Visitors should indulge in one of the enjoyable historic walking tours which criss cross the city each day. Inspirational commentary and hidden architectural gems are to be found throughout the maze of charming cobbled streets and it provides great value at €10 with half price for concessions. Even better value is free entry into the commanding St Finbarr's cathedral and attached museum. Cork City Gaol is also immensely popular with visitors and offers education and fun in equal measure. Cork Opening Hours
Shopping hours of operation are similar to those in the UK with stores open for business at 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday. Sundays and bank holidays are a day of rest and are usually strictly adhered to. Late night shopping takes place on Thursdays in the main shopping areas of Patrick's Street and Oliver Plunkett Street with stores staying open until 9pm.
Cork Tipping & Etiquette
Restaurants do not automatically add a service charge to bills but 10% - 15% is considered the norm. In pubs and bars floor serving staff will expect a tip at the end of the evening and likewise hotel porters should be offered a small gratuity. Taxi fares are often rounded up to the next euro so no further tipping is required.

Disabled Access in Cork
Many museums and venues such as the Opera House are accessible to wheelchair users along with a high proportion of restaurants and bars. Uneven pavements and plenty of steps make sightseeing a little demanding although the main shopping thoroughfares are much easier to negotiate. Most local bus routes feature vehicles specially adapted for wheelchair travel and private hire disabled transport is available across the city.
