Monte Carlo Tourist Attractions
If one place epitomizes the sheer glamour of Monte Carlo, it is the world famous casino that oozes history and refinement. Housed in an opulent gothic style mansion house, the exuberant interior is constructed of onyx and marble and a visit is worthwhile just for the sheer experience. The renowned Exotic Garden, a colourfully lush haven set high above the town, offers a relaxing place to admire exotic plants and fabulous views of Monaco and the Italian Riviera. Monte Carlo Opening Hours
Normal opening hours for Monte Carlo shops and stores is from 9am - 7pm Mondays to Saturdays with the usual extended lunch break between midday and 3pm. Some of the more exclusive boutiques stay open all day and remain so until 9pm or 10pm nightly. Most stores are closed all day Sundays.
Tipping & Etiquette in Monte Carlo
Most restaurants will add a 15% service charge onto bills and it is customary to leave a similar amount in coffee shops and table service bars. Again taxi drivers will expect a tip of around 15%. A couple of euros should be sufficient for luggage porters, valets and for room service and any visit to the hair salon.

The Monte Carlo diet is a typically Mediterranean one - healthy and rich in fish such as sea bass and red mullet and the popular bouillabaisse is found in many restaurants. Olive oil, fresh tomatoes, onions, garlic, black olives, and anchovies are an essential part of cooking and it is known for its variety of Mediterranean style salads. Neighbouring France and Italy have had a major influence on cuisine in the Principality and wine based meat sauces and abundant pasta feature in most of its main dishes. Sweet pepper ratatouille and seafood linguini are both popular dishes and prime examples of this.

Disabled Access in Monte Carlo
Sightseeing on foot can be a little time consuming in Monte Carlo and Monaco as it is made up of a series of steep hills. Thankfully they are connected by a network of elevators and escalators and are in the main accessible for the disabled. The Monte Carlo bus system is efficient and simple to use and most routes can accommodate passengers with reduced mobility which is also complimented with a door to door private hire minibus service for the disabled. Attractions such as the Grand Casino and the Oceanographic Museum offer full ramp access and assistance to wheelchair visitors.
