Salzburg Opening Hours
Outside the main shopping centres, opening hours are standardized with shops operating between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday. Saturday is half day trading until 1pm and virtually all shops are closed on Sunday. The only exception is with large department stores which remain open until 8pm between Monday and Saturday. Banking hours are from 8am - 4pm on weekdays and Saturdays until 1pm although each particular bank varies slightly.

Tipping & Etiquette in Salzburg
Almost all restaurants in the city will include a 10% service charge on the bill and it is customary and polite to round up to the nearest Euro. An extra 5% tip is considered appropriate for a good meal. Taxi drivers will expect an additional 10% on top of the fare and may impose extra charges for transporting heavy items of luggage. As with most of Europe, room service attendants, hotel porters and guides should be rewarded for good service with a few Euros.

Salzburg Food & Drink
Salzburg cuisine features numerous traditional recipes which are filling yet elegantly prepared and presented. Salzburg restaurants have their own local version of the popular Wiener Schnitzel which is likely to be found on almost every menu in the city. Other specialities include Kasspressknodel and Fleischkknodel which are fried cheese and meat dumplings respectively. A Salzburg dining experience should definitely round off with a delicious local dessert such as the celebrated apple strudel or a fluffy Salzburg soufflé.

Disabled Access in Salzburg
Salzburg, still has a high proportion of cobblestone paths and uneven, undulating streets which in certain areas makes wheelchair travel somewhat challenging. However Salzburg is generally receptive to the needs of disabled travellers with all public toilets accessible and most public transport is adapted with low floors and many with wheelchair spaces. The city airport is fully accessible and offers personal assistance in all areas of the terminal. Several attractions such as Mirabelle Gardens and the Mozart Museum are easy to negotiate for disabled visitors and there are even specially marked wheelchair friendly mountain trails in the surrounding countryside.
