With an ever increasing number of cheap flights to the USA from Britain, short breaks in the States are becoming more popular every year, and with so many great cities to choose from, it’s easy to see why. Whether you’re looking to take in the sights and sounds of some of the most famous destinations in the world, or in search of kicking-back and relaxing in style, there’s a destination here for everyone.

East coast attractions

New York is probably the country's most popular city break destination, with its iconic skyline and thriving cosmopolitan atmosphere. It's easy to get here, thanks to regular direct flights to the northeast coast from several UK airports, and highlights include the view from the famous Empire State Building, a boat trip to Liberty Island, strolling through Central Park, a night out on Broadway and the city’s superb selection of internationally renowned galleries, museums and restaurants. Boston is another popular east coast city, situated in the northern state of New England, and home to eclectic neighborhoods and a slice of rich history. Alternatively, if you’re in search of the sunshine, the sunshine state of Florida is a fantastic choice, where you can enjoy shopping, golf, exquisite dining and catching the rays on one of the many sandy beaches in Miami.

California dreaming

Heading to the west coast will involve a slightly longer flight from the UK, but those willing to make the journey for just a few days will be rewarded with a great range of attractions. Los Angeles in California is a popular choice, with its many diverse districts and landmarks, such as the Hollywood sign attracting a regular influx of visitors. You can go celebrity spotting in the leafy Beverley Hills or head downtown to sample cuisine from all corners of the world and get a chance to catch Hollywood in action on the streets. Alternatively, Las Vegas boasts a neon buzz in the middle of the Nevada desert, whilst San Francisco oozes with laid-back charm. Wherever you choose to go, you’ll have no trouble finding plenty of entertainment on a weekend away in the good old USA.
