Aix-en-Provence Tourist Attractions
The most popular attraction for lovers of art in Aix-en-Provence is a visit to the studio and home of Paul Cezanne. It features an evocate display of some of his most important works and offers good value at €5.50 entrance fee. It is open daily from 10am until 5pm. For a more comprehensive journey into the history of art head to the expansive Musee Granet which has priceless exhibits of French, Flemish and Italian masters set in a sumptuous former mansion house. It is open until 6pm and closed on Mondays.

Opening Hours in Aix-en-Provence
Shopping is a relaxed affair in Aix-en-Provence with most stores opening each morning at 10am. The vast majority of smaller shops still close for an extended lunch and many, especially in the main tourist districts, stay open until at least 8pm. Convenience stores and larger department stores remain open throughout the day but very few businesses are open on Sundays.

Menu prices in all but the smallest cafe are sure to include any service charge and any additional tips are discretionary. 10% is considered the average. Taxi fares are subject to an unofficial tip of 10% which is expected and there may be an additional surcharge if travelling to or from the airport. Car valets and room service attendants should be rewarded with 1 or 2 Euros for decent service.

The coveted truffle is a delicacy of Aix-en-Provence that should not be missed but perhaps it’s most famous creation is Calisson. This is a delicious marzipan like dish of almonds and preserved fruits that is available everywhere.

Disabled Access in Aix-en-Provence
Aix-en-Provence is a reasonably level city that should present few problems to wheelchair users however there are some uneven cobbled squares and courtyards. For short journeys in the centre there is a reliable accessible minivan service which can be pre-booked or hailed at designated points and is equipped with a platform lift and wheelchair space. Not all attractions are totally accessible to the disabled although Musee Granet offers lifts, ramps and audio loops for visitors with special needs.
