Known as Bobotie, it contains beef or lamb along with raisins, apples and curry seasoning. Other hearty meals include Potjiekos stew and beef jerky. Seafood is a major part of the local diet with rock lobster, mussels, octopus, and cod all readily available in many restuarants. Traditional broths and soups are popular as a lunchtime snack with local bread and include carrot bredie and corn mealie.
