Jersey has a fabulous range of outdoor attractions such as medieval castles, stately homes, working farms and gardens that require detailed exploration. Jersey Zoo and the Durrell Conservation Park is always a crowd pleaser and is open year round from 9.30am to 5pm daily. It deserves a whole day to fully appreciate and entrance is priced at 11.90. Jersey Opening Hours
Shops in Jersey follow identical opening hours to those of mainland UK with most stores open from 9am daily until 5 or 6pm. Late night shopping is on Thursdays until 8 or 9pm. Hours are much reduced on Sundays with many shops, especially outside St Helier closed all day. Most island post offices are open Monday to Friday from 08.30 until 5pm and also Saturday mornings.
Jersey Tipping & Etiquette
A 10% service charge will usually be added to bills in restaurants and cafes yet diners may wish to give extra for a high level of service. It is normal practice for taxi drivers to receive a small tip and any hotel porter or room service assistant should be rewarded with some small change for a job well done. Gratuities are very rarely demanded from service staff but are always very gratefully received.
Food & Drink in Jersey
The island is most famous for its Jersey Royal potatoes and many tempting dishes derive from this most celebrated of spuds. Seafood restaurants are sure to feature locally caught lobsters, crab oysters and sea bass which are often cooked and presented in a similar way to modern French cooking. Local food festivals are held during spring and summer and highlight the rich heritage of food production on the island. Cheese making is a real art form in Jersey and there are several highly renowned varieties to sample.

Disabled Access in Jersey
Jersey is very well equipped to deal with wheelchair users and the infirm with countless hotels catering to these specialist needs. There are many public conveniences for the disabled especially in St Helier and the vast majority of the local bus network can be accessed. Due to age and construction, most of Jersey's old castles and country houses make sightseeing difficult for visitors in wheelchairs.
