It offers something to captivate every visitor and has many hands on installations for kids to enjoy. Entrance to all exhibits is £10. The family will enjoy a day out at Harewood House, one of the elegant country houses in England. It has a superb collection of art, opulent state rooms and a series of exotic oriental gardens. Leeds Opening Hours
Leeds is a haven for shoppers with a large pedestrianised area filled with everything from high street shops, department stores and upmarket fashion boutiques. Opening hours are from 9am - 5.30 or 6pm Monday to Saturday with most opening on Sundays and Bank Holidays at 10am until 4pm. Thursday is traditionally late night shopping with most stores remaining open until 9pm. For late night purchases, there are several city centre convenience stores and large supermarkets open around the clock seven days a week. Banking hours are similar to the rest of the UK, opening Monday to Friday from 9.30am - 4.30pm with a select few branches operating on Saturday mornings.

Tipping & Etiquette in Leeds
It is customary to add around 10% to a restaurant bill for an adequate meal and good service where establishments do not already include this on the bill. This should be the case only for an eatery that operates a table service - self service cafes do not expect any extra and payment is usually given at the counter when selecting food. Small change can be given for friendly and polite service in bars and pubs and taxi drivers often expect a small tip.

Leeds Food & Drink
There has been a renaissance of local Yorkshire cuisine in recent years with a return to age old recipes reinvented for the modern diner. The most famous culinary export is undoubtedly the Yorkshire pudding. Best served supersized on its own filled with sausages vegetables and onion gravy, every city break to Leeds should sample the real thing. Local roast lamb is renowned nationwide and rabbit stew and casserole can be found on menus citywide. Dessert lovers will enjoy a range of familiar sweets such as Yorkshire brandy snaps, treacle tart and bread and butter pudding. Connoisseurs of real ale will delight in the varied range of local brews available in Leeds' hostelries with always popular Theakstons and Black Sheep beer among the best.
