Los Angeles Tourist Attractions
Art lovers will want to take advantage of the LA visitor pass which offers free or reduced admission at a host of museums and attractions in the city. These include the Museum of Contemporary Art, LA Zoo and Fort MacArthur Museum. It offers good value and the chance to avoid long queues and starts at $20 for a day pass. The Pacific Aquarium at Long Beach is a great day out for the family with education and fun offered in equal measure. It features a host of exotic species and exhibits and is open from 10am until 8pm daily.
Los Angeles Opening Hours
High street shops and services are open from 10am until 6pm Monday to Saturday with late opening until 9pm on Thursdays. Los Angeles shopping centres have extended hours most nights except weekends when you can shop until 9pm. City centre independent stores in the more diverse neighbourhoods are often open until much later with many operating 24 hours a day. Banks open on Mondays to Fridays until 5pm and central post offices are also open on Saturdays.

The health conscious Californian diet utilises plenty of low fat produce, free range meats and vegetables with less reliance on fried dishes and the fast food culture. It is an ever changing culinary landscape with trends towards Eastern and Oriental cuisine and Baja-Mexican dishes such as Pupusa tortillas and the famous California roll, which consists of sushi and avocado. Seafood such as crab cakes and prawns are popular in upscale restaurants and South American style veal and beef dishes are always in vogue.
Tipping & Etiquette in Los Angeles
Los Angeles has a long established culture of tipping for good service and although there are no hard and fast rules, 15 - 20% is deemed enough for a satisfactory meal and for taxi journeys. Hotel room service, help with luggage and valet parking are other tasks where gratuities are expected. Smokers should beware that California has the most stringent anti smoking laws in the world. Always ask staff first before lighting up, even when dining outside or in parking lots as penalties are severe.

Disabled Access in Los Angeles
Los Angeles is a generally flat city with modern facilities and has excellent awareness of disabilities. Virtually all attractions have some accessibility from ramp access, lifts, visual aids and wheelchair hire. These include Disneyland, Los Angeles Zoo and a majority of museums. Most major bus routes operate low floor vehicles with wheelchair spaces although for rail services pre booking of assistance is required.
