Like most of France, restaurant bills in Toulouse include a service charge but most diners feel the need to reward further for good service. Toulouse Food & Drink
Traditional Toulouse cuisine consists of an eclectic mix of ingredients and flavours and perhaps cassoulet - meat and bean stew and Toulouse sausages are the most famous exports. Local duck and geese are used extensively in casseroles and roasts and are guaranteed to satisfy the most ravenous appetite. There are several prestigious Michelin-starred restaurants for connoisseurs of fine dining and the many charming cafes, snack bars and brasseries offer good value lunchtime menus to sustain you through a whole day of sightseeing. For an unique dining experience try the floating barge restaurants on the delightful Canal du Midi or indulge in the tastes of the Middle East, Africa and Asia in the multitude of international restaurants. Dishes of shark, bison or kangaroo meat offer adventurous dining and of course the tempting local patisseries of Toulouse should not be overlooked.
