Dubai Opening Hours
The numerous shopping centres of Dubai are open all day from 10am-10pm every day and some supermarkets operate 24 hours a day. Virtually every business in Dubai closes for Friday prayers between 11.30am and 1.30 pm and includes banks, post offices and government buildings.
Tipping & Etiquette in Dubai
Most Dubai restaurants add a service charge of 10% to bills and any further reward is entirely at your own discretion. Hotel porters and spa and health club personnel should be given a small gratuity dependant on the level of service and taxi drivers do not expect nor rarely receive tips.
Dubai Food & Drink
There is less variety of local specialities in Dubai than almost anywhere else in the UAE due to its extensive cosmopolitan flavour where truffles and Aberdeen Angus beef are easier to find than a tasty Middle Eastern shawarma - traditional lamb or chicken with lettuce inside sweet pitta bread. The food stalls around Deira and Bur Dubai offer the most authentic tastes of the city where one can find spicy chopped fish kebabs with lavish bread and mint yoghurt sauce. There are many Lebanese and Persian influenced dishes that include dried fish, dates, pickled vegetable salads and even spiced camel meat with rice.

Disabled Access in Dubai
Shopping breaks in Dubai are exceedingly popular and fortunately most of the major shopping centres have plenty of provisions for disabled and special needs visitors. These include wide travelators, lifts and disabled toilets and audio loops at information desks. There are several tour companies that organise tours and excursions for wheelchair users including day cruises and even desert safaris. The vast majority of mid range and above standard hotels have disabled room facilities and some also provide dedicated city transport throughout your stay.
