Dubai Things To Do
The Palm Islands
Said to be visible from the moon, the popular resort is the largest group of man-made islands in the world. The Palm Jumeirah includes a number of hotels, as well as private residences, while The Palm Jebel Ali will be home to leisure facilities, including an aquatic theme park, on its completion in 2008. The biggest of the group – due to open in 2009 – Palm Deira is predominantly for residential use; an incredible 7,000+ villas are to be constructed. The pace of expansion is at break-neck speed and the next ambitious development is ‘The World’, an attempt to recreate the shape of the planet with 300 islands!
Dubai Creekside Park, Children’s City
The perfect city break; plenty of activities for the children! Youngsters can enjoy a journey through the human body, science and space, with the help of different ‘zones’. Even the most demanding children will be occupied as plenty of hands-on action keeps them busy. All exhibits are in English as well as Arabic.
Dubai Sports City
The world’s first purpose-built sports city. State-of-the-art sporting venues and academies will sit alongside residential and commercial developments as part of the Dubailand development. The complex will feature four outstanding stadia: a 60,000 seat multi-purpose outdoor stadium, a 25,000 capacity cricket stadium, a 10,000 seat multi-purpose indoor arena and a field hockey venue for 5,000 spectators. A must in your sightseeing tour.
Events
The PGA Desert Classic Golf Tournament is one of the world’s largest; the Dubai World Cup is the planet’s richest horse race. The Dubai Shopping Festival doesn’t involve shopping… the city’s shopping malls are converted into venues for live entertainment, music, dancing, competitions, workshops and numerous interactive programmes. More than 80 major trade exhibitions are hosted here each year as the world’s business community enjoy moonlit Bedouin barbeques, camel riding, how cruises and sand skiing.
The Great Outdoors
Escape the hustle and bustle of the city during your Dubai short break and relax on one of the many beaches that stretch along the Gulf, or take a trip to the ancient fortressed villages of Hatta and Wadi Hatta in a picturesque valley in the foothills of the Hajar Mountains. The fastest changing place on earth, a Dubai city break with leave you wanting more!
