Grenoble Tourist Attractions
A must for every Grenoble short break is a hair raising cable car ride up to the majestic fortress of La Bastille which sits high above the city. It takes just a few minutes and enjoys remarkable panoramic views of the city and Alps. The fare is just €3.00 and it runs from 9am until 4pm. The National History Museum is another worthwhile distraction while in Grenoble and features a vast array of exhibits from the past highlighting the rich diversity of nature in this region of France. Opening Hours Grenoble
Grenoble shopping hours are similar to most parts of France and generally open from 10am until 6pm Monday to Saturdays. Only a small percentage close for an extended lunch between 12 noon and 2pm. Shopping centres and department stores remain open until 8 or 9pm and 6pm on Saturdays. Most businesses are closed on Sundays. Banking hours are Monday to Fridays from 10am until 4pm with a handful of branches open on Saturday mornings.
Tipping & Etiquette in Grenoble
Restaurants in Grenoble include tax and service charges on bills amounting to 10% and no further tipping is required although it is always gratefully received. Taxi drivers and hair salons often expect a similar amount and tour guides, room service and valet parking should be rewarded with a couple of Euros for satisfactory service.

Regional food in Grenoble is quite unique as it combines the best of classic French cooking with plenty of hearty winter delicacies. The famous tartiflette and raclette are Alpine specialities that simply must be sampled and it is also noted for its fresh trout and cinnamon pastries. Duck pate liver and beef in game sauce are other popular local dishes found on menus in its most elegant restaurants. There is a sizeable Italian population in Grenoble and there are literally dozens of pizza restaurants and trattori to be found in the Saint-Laurent district of the city.

Disabled Access in Grenoble
Grenoble is a compact and flat city that presents few problems to the disabled traveller. All its tram routes and a good proportion of buses are fully accessible with low access and wheelchair spaces and there is also plenty of disabled parking with no restrictions. Most civic buildings and shopping centres have lifts and there are even dedicated ski schools for the disabled in most Alpine winter resorts.
