An island of less than 40 square kilometres, Guernsey city breaks are easily accessible by all modes of transport and no given two points are more than 1 hour apart using a well maintained road system. Two main arterial roads connect the island from east to west and are where most of the beach resorts, towns and villages are located along with a host of sightseeing attractions and entertainment. Motorists will find that car travel is extremely hassle free with little or no congestion and plenty of car parks for long and short stays. Car hire is cheap for UK standards and is available at St Peter Port and selected other resorts around the island.

Getting around Guernsey on foot is equally as straightforward and when arriving by ferry, visitors can simply walk from the ferry terminal straight to the many hotels of St Peter Port. The island is awash with rural and coastal walking paths and a little effort should encounter some lovely bays and coves and glorious countryside. Cycling or mountain biking is a popular pastime for local residents and visitors and perfectly safe and rewarding. Many hotels offer daily cycle hire and guided tours of the island on two wheels are readily available.

Getting Around Guernsey - Comprehensive public bus services
Two main bus companies operate comprehensive routes across the whole island which tends to radiate outwards from St Peter Port, calling at the ferry terminal, airport, most towns and villages and extensively within the capital itself. In fact virtually nowhere is off limits to bus users although for the more remote spots, services can be infrequent. Where the buses fail to go, taxis come to the rescue and are especially welcome in late evening when buses are scarce. Roadside taxi stands are found in St Peter Port and getting around Guernsey by cab is certainly the most comfortable and convenient way to travel, although relatively expensive.
