Ljubljana Opening Hours
Normal shop opening hours in the city are from 10am-8pm Monday to Friday and until 3pm on Saturdays, although some small specialist shops such as boutiques and book stores may close for lunch. Sundays sees most shops close all day except for grocery stores. The other exception is the many open air produce and flea markets which take place from very early in the morning until around 2pm.
Tipping & Etiquette in Ljubljana
Tipping is not traditionally a common practice in Slovenia although with the influx of foreign visitors it has become more accepted in recent years. Some restaurants and hotels will levy a service charge automatically on a bill and if not around 10% would be a sufficient amount to tip. Taxi drivers and hotel staff should be rewarded by one or two Euros for good service.
Ljubljana Food & Drink
Typical Slovene food is influenced by both Slavic and Italian traditions and is in general wholesome and hearty. Goulash is perhaps the most popular dish, made of beef or lamb and slow cooked in a thick gray with carrots, mushrooms, potatoes and seasoning. Sausage and Sauerkraut is a simple but filling dish that is found in many Lubljana cafes and restaurants and can be served as an appetizer or main meal. Noted desserts include Potica - a crunchy nut roll and Slovenian almond cake.

These include the Zoo and Ethnographic Museum. The train system has been upgraded recently and most services to and from Lubljana have step free access and wheelchair spaces onboard. Several city centre private hire taxi companies have disabled-friendly minivans and cars available for charter.
