Singapore Opening Hours
Due in part to its British colonial past Singapore business hours are very similar to those in the UK. Shopping trips will revolve around its swanky mega malls which open daily until 9pm and there are 24 hour convenience stores throughout the city. Banking hours are from 10am until 4.30pm on weekdays.
Tipping & Etiquette in Singapore
There are no special considerations for tipping when you are on city break in Singapore which follows the same rules as the UK and Europe. Mid range and upscale restaurants will add an extra 10-15% onto bills as standard. Cheap hawker food centres should be rewarded with a few dollars for a satisfactory meal. Taxi drivers will expect an additional 10% on top of the fare and hotel staff and tour guides should be given a small gratuity of 1 or 2 dollars.

Singapore is a fascinating melting pot of Chinese, Malay and Indian influences and its famous cuisine is just as diverse. Dining out is a national pastime and signature local dishes include Hainan chicken rice in oriental restaurants, Indian martabak pastries and skewers of chicken or beef in spicy satay peanut sauce.
