Vienna Tourist Attractions
A must see on a Vienna City Break is the fabulous Schönbrunn Palace - a fabulously opulent example of the old Austro Hungarian Empire. This imperial palace houses very impressive staterooms containing a wealth of artwork and antique furniture and several other permanent exhibitions such as vintage coaches, the world's oldest zoo and a charming Marionette puppet theatre that kids of all ages will love. It is set in beautifully landscaped gardens and holds regular fireworks and classical concerts during summer. It is open daily until 6pm and costs €9 entrance to all areas.

Vienna Opening Hours
Opening hours of shops and services in Vienna are from 9am - 6pm Monday to Saturday with many open later until 8pm or even 10pm in the busy city centre shopping streets. Sundays sees most businesses closed however larger department stores and gift shops will open to cater for visiting tourists. Banks are open from 8.30am until 3pm on weekdays with a lunch break at midday.

Tipping & Etiquette in Vienna
It is customary to leave an extra 10% on average for restaurant and hotel bills to reward good service although many establishments already include this. A similar percentage is expected by taxi drivers and for tour guides, porters and concert hall ushers some loose change of around 1 or 2 Euros should be sufficient and will be gratefully accepted.

Many familiar European dishes originated in Vienna and its long culinary history can be enjoyed in restaurants across the city. Filleted chicken, beef or pork in breadcrumbs known as Winer Schnitzels are popular the world over and come in many varieties in the city's restaurants. Vienna Gulasch is another hearty dish that is popular made with potatoes, vegetables and beef and strudels are an ideal way to round off a delicious meal. Choose from fillings of apple, raspberries, cheese or even chocolate or try some local Liptauer cheese and Viennese sweet bread.

Disabled Access in Vienna
Vienna city centre transport is fairly well geared to the needs of disabled passengers with the metro system having step free access and visual aids to platform level at most stations. A good proportion of central bus routes have vehicles that can accommodate wheelchairs and there is a dedicated airport shuttle just for wheelchair users. Most theatres and concert halls have designated spaces for the disabled but should be reserved in advance.
