Warsaw Getting Around
Getting Around Warsaw - Frequent buses to all city destinations
A city break of sightseeing in Warsaw is made considerably more convenient due to a good network of public transport that is inexpensive and reliable. Many points of interest can be visited on foot in a relatively compact area although Warsaw is not a particularly pedestrian friendly city and there is a need for public transport to fully appreciate the city and its attractions. Warsaw buses are frequent and cheap and cover all the tourist destinations, city centre routes and suburban districts. Services operate from early morning until late evening with night buses on some of the busier routes.
Getting Around Warsaw - Efficient and user friendly tram system
Trams also ply the major city routes where many museums, monuments and churches are located and this service is extremely user friendly with automated ticketing, ample luggage space and comfortable seating. A limited metro system gives another option for travel with underground stations covering a north - south direction. Tickets are valid on all modes of transport and can be purchased as single journeys or day and weekend passes. They are available from many major hotels and ticket kiosks located throughout the city.
Getting Around Warsaw - Enjoy a day trip by train
Taxis are always a convenient form of transport for foreign visitors and there is no shortage of taxi cabs on Warsaw streets looking for custom. They can be hailed in the street or at designated taxi stands located at many of the main tourist attractions and transport hubs. Take care to use only registered taxis who display their credentials. The central rail station operates regular train services to many Polish cities and offers a fast and efficient option for rewarding day trips further afield.
