Hamburg Tourist Attractions
Hamburg has a great selection of interesting attractions for all the family and a visit to the Hamburg Dungeon is a fabulous day out. Here you can experience gruesome fun and games, educational history and even a rollercoaster ride. Tickets are €9 and concessions are available. Another visit with a difference is the Panoptikum Waxworks - a fine collection of life-size wax figures of the rich and famous that boasts a vibrant program of kid’s events and workshops. Family tickets are just €22.

Hamburg Opening Hours
Hamburg post offices are open from 8 am - 6 pm weekdays with one or two in the city remaining open until late evening. Banking hours are very similar and every branch will have at least one external ATM which can be used 24 hours a day. Shopping hours can vary depending on popularity and size with department stores and major supermarkets staying open until 9pm. Smaller independent shops tend to close earlier at around 7pm.
Hamburg Tipping & Etiquette
Tipping in Hamburg is generally about 10% of the bill in restaurants and it is preferable to give any gratuity direct to your waiter rather than leaving it on the table when you leave. Taxi journeys should be rounded up to the next one or two Euros and hotel porterage and tour guides should be rewarded with a similar amount.

Typical Hamburg cuisine includes Birnen und Speck which is green runner beans cooked with pears and bacon and Bratkartoffeln - a dish of tasty pan fried potatoes. Fried fish, especially plaice is a popular treat for locals and visitors alike and usually comes with a creamy sauce and mashed potatoes. There are many unique desserts to be found in Hamburg's eateries of which Rote Grütze is among the most delicious. It is a colourful summer pudding of berries and usually served with fresh cream. For lunchtime snacks Hamburg offers a myriad of traditional open-faced sandwiches utlilising smoked fish, beef, chicken and pickled vegetables that are both tasty and filling.

Disabled Access in Hamburg
Disabled visitors should find few problems with accessibility during a stay in Hamburg and getting around is a fairly trouble free exercise. All local buses have step free entry and the S-bahn metro train system is undergoing a major renewal program for the benefit of easier access. Attractions such as the International Maritime Museum and Hamburg Kunsthalle have ramp walkways, induction loops and tactile surfaces to improve the user experience and enjoyment for disabled visitors.
