Moscow Tourist Attractions
The endearing symbol of Moscow for most visitors is The Kremlin and a visit is an essential part of any Moscow short break. A whole day can be spent admiring the grandeur and scale of Imperial and Soviet history. It houses three medieval cathedrals, the Tsars Palace, the Presidential Palace, an Armoury museum and over 20 towering spires. Entry is from 150Rbl and English language guided tours are available on request.

Moscow Opening Hours
High street shopping usually takes place from 9am to 7pm Monday to Saturday with a number of larger stores operating on Sundays with slightly reduced hours. Many food and convenience stores remain open 24 hours a day except for Sunday and there are several arcades and malls which have late night shopping on Thursdays and Fridays. Moscow city centre banks are open Monday-Friday between 9.30am to 5.30pm.

Tipping & Etiquette in Moscow
Tipping in restaurants and hotels is not compulsory although expected in many establishments particularly those catering to visiting tourists. An increasing number already include a 10-15% service charge so no further tipping is needed. Tour guides, taxi drivers and room service personnel should be rewarded for a professional service but is again at your discretion.

Moscow Food & Drink
Traditional Moscovite cuisine is still widely available in spite of the city's very cosmopolitan food culture where every type of cooking is available. It is known for its hearty casseroles of fish, poultry and game, boiled meat and vegetable dishes, such as pork Kholodets and elegant Franco-Russian dishes such as veal orloff and beef stroganoff. Pastries known as Pelmeni are incredibly popular amongst locals and make a filling and delicious snack in between meals. Choose from pork, lamb or beef seasoned with pepper, onion and garlic.

Moscow Disabled Access
Although the city has a wide range of hotel accommodation suitable for disabled visitors in all classes, getting around Moscow in a wheelchair can be very frustrating. There are many ramp-less pavement curbs and the underground system is all but off limits to wheelchair users with very few lifts to platform level. City buses are gradually being equipped with wheelchair lifts but access to the whole network will take time. Newer stores, offices and public buildings are being built with ramps and disabled toilet facilities and a growing number of cinemas, restaurants and bars are seeing the value in providing special needs facilities for patrons.
