The magnificent Gothic cathedral, finally completed in 1601 after 300 years work, affords excellent sea views. Other top Barri Gotic sights include the unique 10th century Moorish baths and the glorious 15th century Gothic Llotja exchange building, which now hosts regular exhibitions and concerts.

The Museu d'Art Espanyol Contemporani, a fine 18th century building in central Palma, has a superb collection of 20th-century art, including Miró, Dalí, Picasso and Juan Gris. The Museu de Mallorca is housed in the beautiful 17th century Almudaina Palace near the cathedral. The museum has prehistoric and Moorish remains, and a fine collection of medieval religious paintings. Es Baluard Contemporary Art Museum offers superb harbour views as well as Picasso and Cezanne.

Try areas like the Barri Gòtic, Sa Llotja, Passeig Maritim and Santa Catalina.

Nightlife
Palma nightlife is exceptionally varied even by Spanish standards. Although on a smaller scale, nightlife in Palma can rival Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga and Seville in terms of good natured enjoyment and late-night clubbing. Palma nightlife is far more far more authentically Spanish than anything else on the island of Majorca. Start off in the small bars of the Sa Llotja area and move on to the late-night discos and clubs on the Passeig Maritim. Don’t miss the amazing cliff-side Pacha nightclub. Palma offers trendy DJ lounge bars, cool cocktail bars, live music venues, specialist bars from Indie rock to salsa, and plenty of fun, friendly Spanish-style nights out. Palma nightlife keeps going throughout the winter. Palma’s reputation for stylish living, celebrity visitors and its burgeoning gay scene add to the unique cosmopolitan mix.

Beaches & Mountains
Palma’s harbour, waterfront promenade and marina contribute hugely to the charm of the city. Superb spots for people watching, waterfront cafes, dining, nightlife and generally soaking up the atmosphere. Although Palma only has a small beach near the city, residents and visiting tourists can easily head off to nearby beach resorts like S’Arenal, Palma Nova, Cala Mayor, Puerto Portal, C’an Pastilla, Illetes and Sant Elm. The nearby Serra de Tramontana mountains boast some of the finest scenery in Majorca and can easily be reached by car, bus or train.
