The easiest and quickest way of getting around Toronto is to take the subway. This underground system has just 4 lines yet there are many interchanges between lines and it is convenient for many museums, shopping and entertainment hotspots. Cyclists can combine a ride with a longer bus journey as over 50 bus routes have bicycle storage racks and are carried free of charge.
Getting Around Toronto - Miles of air conditioned underground walkways
Car hire is less of a concern in Toronto than most other cities in Canada and the US as most attractions are located close together and all is well served by public transport. A private vehicle is essential for exploring further afield although car parking in the city is often problematic and relatively expensive. Taxis are always in good supply, inexpensive and can be hailed virtually from anywhere. Getting around Toronto on foot is not as arduous as you would imagine. Below the city is PATH, a 20 mile stretch of underground walkways which traverses the entire city. It is filled with numerous shopping arcades and eateries and is the perfect way of getting from A to B especially during inclement weather.
