Turin Tourist Attractions
The Mole Antonelliana provides an essential visit for lovers of film and show business with 5 floors devoted to the history of the silver screen. This towering building is over 500 feet tall and is one of Turin's most recognisable landmarks. Inside it continuously shows mainstream and independent movies and houses several permanent and temporary exhibitions. The National Cinema Museum is open daily until 10pm and costs €7 entrance. The Gallery of Modern Art is another popular attraction and consists of over 5,000 paintings, sculpture and art installations and deserves several hours to fully appreciate. It showcases the work of local artists since the 18th century and also houses many important works by international painters.

Turin Opening Hours
Smaller shops and businesses operate from 9.30am until 7.30pm Monday-Saturday with a lunchtime break between 1pm and 3.30pm. Most are also closed all day Sundays and Monday morning. Large department stores, shopping centres and supermarkets remain open all day, often until 10pm with a small number open for limited hours on Sundays. Banks and post offices are open Monday to Friday 9am-4.30pm.

Turin has an incredibly rich history of traditional cooking which encompasses everything from centuries old chocolate making, the famous Grissino breadstick, a wide variety of smoked sausages, pasta dishes and its celebrated Piedmont wines. A real highlight of Turin gastronomy is the white truffle which is used to form the base of many dishes such as risotto, venison and tagliolini. Well known dishes on many Turin menus include egg tagliatelle, potato gnocchi and minestrone soups of many varieties. More substantial meals include Brasato al Barolo - braised beef in Barolo wine and Fritto misto alla Piemontese, which consists of veal escalopes, lamb chops, liver, chicken, sausages and fruit and is certain to satisfy even the most hearty of appetites.

Tipping & Etiquette in Turin
Tipping is an everyday practice throughout Italy and it is customary to leave a small tip for good service even if an inclusive service charge has been added to a bill. These charges range from 10%-15% in restaurants and bars and any reward to your waiter or hotel concierge will be very much appreciated. Other occasions when tipping should be considered include for taxi drivers, theatre ushers and tour guides.

Disabled Access in Turin
Turin is one of the more user friendly Italian cities for disabled visitors with a good range of newer public buildings with ramps, elevators and highly aware customer service departments catering to the needs of wheelchair users and others requiring assistance. The airport has an efficient service for the disabled which includes dedicated prebookable transport into the city. Many central restaurants do not provide indoor access for disabled diners but there are many hotels at all levels with adapted accommodation.
