Tivoli Gardens
A trip to Tivoli Gardens should be top of your ‘things to do’ list. The popular amusement park, founded in 1843, enjoys a plentiful supply of high-class restaurants and stages for music and theatre. Just a few minutes walk from the City Hall Square in the centre of Copenhagen, Tivoli is among the top ten city attractions. Enjoy original pantomime theatre dating back to 1874 or perhaps something faster-paced with exciting rides such as The Deamon, The Golden Tower and The Monsoon. Rock concerts are performed every Friday on the open-air stage alongside classical music, ballet and international shows at the Tivoli Concert Hall. Activities galore at Tivoli Gardens.

Christiania
No city break to Copenhagen is complete without a visit to the free city of Christiania or ‘fristaden’. The partially self-governing neighbourhood of about 850 residents covers 85 acres in the borough of Christianshavn. The area was founded in 1971 when many people from different backgrounds began to take over an area of abandoned military barracks together as a protest against the Danish government. Nowadays, meditation and yoga play a big part in the settlement and cars are strictly banned. Arts and crafts are available from one of the many stalls and the area has a vibrant bar and club scene.

Radhuspladsen
Central Copenhagen’s lively main square is full of street entertainers all times of the day and night and, with Indre By on one side, and the Tivoli Gardens and the district of Vesterbro on the other, it offers easy access to sightseeing tours of the city.

The Latin Quarter
Surrounding the old campus of Copenhagen University, the Latin Quarter is full of bookshops and cafes. Kultorvet, a plaza just to the north has lively beer gardens and farm stalls.
