Seville Getting Around

Getting around Seville
Seville is an easy city to navigate and most of the tourist interest is contained in a compact, manageable centre with large areas free of traffic. It is perfectly feasible to spend a weekend in Seville without using public transport at all. The occasional taxi will avoid tiredness in the summer months.

Getting from Seville airport
San Pablo Airport is 8 miles north of the city. The airport bus departs every 30 minutes from the Hotel Alfonso XIII and several other city centre locations.  Taxis operate a fixed-rate system.

Walking
Walking in Seville is a delight. Narrow, twisting lanes will lead you to beautiful, hidden plazas, gorgeous patios, flower-decked houses and tempting bars and restaurants. The Triana neighbourhood across the river is easy to reach on foot. There is plenty of shade in the city centre for walking in the summer.

Taxis
As elsewhere in Spain, taxis are a reliable and relatively cheap way around the city. Seville taxis are easy to find at taxi stands and main squares or can simply be hailed in the street. Fares are cheap by British standards. Taxis are metered. Rates are slightly higher at night and on Sundays. Extra charge for luggage.

Tour buses
Seville tour buses are a good way of seeing the city, especially in the hot summer months. A day ticket allows you to jump on and off the bus at will.

Horse-drawn carriage
Seville carriages are a city institution and a quiet, romantic way to see the city. Expect to pay about 40 euros for a short tour. The best place to find them is next to the cathedral in the Plaza del Triunfo.

Bus
Seville buses are cheap and easy to use but hardly necessary for most city break visits. 10-trip Bonobus tickets are available from newsagents or tobacco shops. Look out for 1-day and 3-day tourist tickets. The “C” buses run on circular routes. Seville buses run until about 23.30

Cycling in Seville
Seville is a flat city and bicycles are easy to hire. Always securely lock the bike.
Seville’s parks offer pleasant cycling as does the river.
