Arena di Verona
A visit here should top of any ancient architecture lovers things-to-do list. Built in AD 30, the popular Arena di Verona is one of Italy’s best conserved Roman amphitheatres and is famous for its opera performances with up to six a week during the summer. The seating area is made up of 44 levels and can hold up to 22,000 spectators.

Porta Borsari
Porta Borsari is an archway at the end of Corso Porta Borsari. This façade of a 3rd century gate in the original Roman city walls is dated 245AD and gives the city name as Colonia Verona Augusta.

Teatro Filarmonico
The Teatro Filarmonico was started in 1605 by Domenico Curtoni. The majestic façade with its columns was erected in 1608, and the reception (now the theatre's foyer) in 1612. In 1770, a 14-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart performed here.

Piazza Bra
The heart of the Veronese beats in Piazza Bra and today it is crowned with many palaces that carry the names of the most important Veronese families.

La casa di Romeo
According to tradition, this 14th century Gothic building is where Shakespeare’s Romeo lived. The principle façades look out onto an internal courtyard, adorned with arcades and passageways. A must-see sightseeing location on any trip to Verona.

SS. Apostolo
Built in the eighth century, the building was finally consecrated in 1194. At the beginning of the 16th century the three naves were joined together, the roof raised, and the side chapels were opened.

Lake Garda
During a short break in Verona, one activity not to miss is a trip to the nearby Lago di Garda. The largest lake in Italy is a major tourist destination, with a number of hotels and resorts along its shore. The beautiful spot was formed by glaciers at the end of the last ice age.
